Current and future commitments:
The gallery educates its community about the occupation of unceded territories and the ongoing impacts of colonization, guided by the teachings of Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh communities. Programming is deeply informed by Indigenous women who have led and sustained community in the Downtown Eastside for decades. The gallery builds respectful relationships with urban Indigenous artists and communities, while avoiding cultural appropriation and respecting cultural protocols.

Identified power dynamics and actions to address them:
The gallery confronts systemic attitudes that devalue community arts compared to professional arts. This includes the impact of policies that contribute to the marginalization of low-income, self-taught artists living with trauma, addictions, or mental health diagnoses. The gallery works to shift these attitudes by supporting artists to access opportunities, reduce stigma, and challenge structures that limit agency and visibility.
