CARFAC BC represents visual artists throughout the province and provides tools that help artists build sustainable careers. We offer resources that include fee-payment advocacy, professional development, community engagement, and information tailored to working artists in British Columbia. As the BC affiliate of CARFAC National, we contribute to national conversations about artists’ rights while responding to the unique needs of artists and arts organisations across the province.

CARFAC BC (Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens – British Columbia) is a provincially incorporated non-profit association that serves as the voice of professional visual artists across British Columbia. As the BC affiliate of the national CARFAC organisation, our role is to advocate for the rights, visibility, and economic well-being of visual artists in the province. Our mandate is to advance the visual arts in British Columbia, support a socio-economic environment that allows artists to sustain their creative work, and carry out research and public education initiatives that strengthen the professional conditions of artists throughout the region.

The CARFAC BC Board of Directors is made up of volunteer members who are practicing artists from across the province. Together, they provide regional leadership that reflects the diversity of British Columbia’s visual arts community and advances the organisation’s mandate to support professional artists throughout the province.

CARFAC BC provides visual artists with the resources they need, including guidance on artist fees, exporting, taxes, grants, copyright, insurance, marketing, and other essential aspects of professional practice. Membership in CARFAC BC gives artists access to a wide range of tools and information that can easily offset the cost of joining.
